[I just finished writing this in all my early morning insomnia, and I’m realizing now that it reads like a young adult paperback that bronzed middle school girls buy as a diversion during their summer beach trips, but I don’t really care.]

Awww, this reminds me of very good things. :-) I love exploring connections and interactions between people and thinking about how they can turn into such good things (even though I don't much go to parties, and my alcohol tolerance is so pleasantly high that I've never been drunk). But I was kind of smiling fondly at your last paragraph, because it reminded me of my 4-6 months in Italy. Everyone told me I was going to meet some Italian man who was going to sweep me off my feet, but instead in my group was a nice, kind of quiet boy from another school. I had been seeing someone else for almost 2 years before I left for Italy, but I had asked for a break before I left and had known even then that we weren't going to work out--we were too different and there was too much he wouldn't understand. But I met this boy in the airport and offered to help him carry his stuff, and we talked about science fiction and music. 1) I can't believe you in all your tininess has a high alcohol tolerance. That's impressive.
2) I'm glad this could trigger happy memories for you.
3) Trust me, I've been planning on going to Italy forever (studied the language all during high school), and your lovely little fairy tale has only heightened my desire.
4) Also impressed that you can make sense of your relationship, even with all that distance.

Hahaha, I love you guys. Maybe this means that if all else fails, I can end up writing books for past-their-prime housewives and sexually repressed pre-teens. (Sigh).
