Nice. A few of the communities I'm in are full of jerks too. I read sometimes, post very rarely, and comment even more rarely. The few times I have commented, I've been quickly "corrected". I swear people look for things to "correct" other people on in some of those communities. They just sit back with their links and wait for people to "educate". It's ridiculous.

Some people on LJ are just nasty. I've found out the hard way to be careful about what I say / do in LJ communities. Keep in mind that some people have nothing better to do than troll around, just waiting to make nasty comments to people. They must have pretty sad lives.

I saw one of your comments in the Stay at Home Moms group and checked out your journal. Looks like we have some things in common. I'd like to add you to my friends list, so you can check out my journal if you want to. Because of a few negative experiences with strange LJ people, I have changed my journal to "Friends Only" but I'll add you so that you have access. Before you add me back, I have to warn you that my entries tend to long and a bit boring. ;)

I'd love for you to be my new friend! By the way, you have a beautiful journal.

there are certain communities that are more known for flames and drama than others. many have no flaming/no drama rules and if someone is mean to you, you can report them to the mods. however, if the community allows it and that's stated in their userinfo, "this is a drama community," then join in or get out of the way ( ... )

Ironically this was their #1 rule:

1. DO NOT make judgments on anyone in this community. This is a hate free zone and we value and respect people from all walks of life, so do not preach to the choir here, make assumptions of someone's character, belittle people in any way....etc.

ha ha! how annoying. just goes to show you how many people actually read those things. but, not that you care, but i feel better at least, the comments i was refering to in the bf community got screened by mods for going against policy.

:-)

You don't have to share if you don't want ... but what community was it?

It was the poor_skills community, and all I asked was where can I get a free credit report? It was a short question, it's not even like it took up a lot of space. Once I realized my mistake then I deleted both postings because I didn't want any thing to do with them. It was rare that they had info that I needed anyway.

I spend little time in any communities anymore as it seems a few jerks in each do their best to create drama and make it an unpleasant experience for others.

Of course, the positive thing about communities is that I met many of my longer term LJ friends originally in communities.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience. Now you know who the jerks are in that community.
