Ah...yeah, that paragraph describes the beginning of the witch-hunts that killed approximately 5 million women.

...fucking Catholics.

I was made to read some of this for a first year seminar class I took called The Monsterous Imagination. Good stuff. I prefered studying Pliny, but the witch history lesson was fun times too. Those bastardos who didn't like that the people were 'wising up' to the fact that witches weren't real went all apeshit and came to America and brought the ideals of witch hunting there.. and of course [the SHEEP] believed them. Mainly the whole 'witch' thing was to rid the world of another religion (obviously paganism) that might be competition, and gain more followers.. once you've killed a woman because she seemed like an evil potion brewer, it's pretty hard to not stick by the religion that told you to do so.. but that was a pretty obvious comment *lol*
