[public] Dress alterations and flat shoes

Aug 28, 2015 12:15

It's a bit of a long shot but can anyone recommend someone to do alterations to a dress in the Canterbury / Ashford / Folkestone / Dover neck of the woods? I've got a velvet dress that needs taking in, but I don't want to risk a botch job ( Read more... )

Boden does really nice flats including a glittery pair I'm drooling over atm.

The sparkly sandals are a bit much for me, but I do quite like those purple ones that are online only. Green dress, though. Hmmm.

I just got planter fasciitis, which requires supportive shoes or you die of pain. I got a pair of sparkly fitflops, the non-toe post type, and have used those when I need something to look like I tried to dress up. The sparkles are black, so it's not tacky, and they are comfy enough that I also use them as slippers. I used to like Gabor shoes, too.

I have so far failed to find supportive shoes that have something to hold onto your heel (I'm not naturally a wearer of backless shoes).

I initially meant the new fit flops to be my warm-weather shoes, as when I bought them it was hot, but recently it has not looked at all weird to be in the shoe-type fitflops.

I would never have thought of them for smart shoes, thank you!

I've just had a quick look and didn't see the ones you have, but they have some quite nice Mary Janes. Are they standing-all-day-on-stone-floors comfy?

I have not tried to stand all day in them, but they have been wear all day comfy. It's actually a relief to put them on in the morning, when the pain is most acute.

Crap quality they may be, but I like Asda for flats.

Hmm... they've got some crochet ballet pumps that might do me, if I change into them once I get there. I have incredibly wussy feet, though: are they really comfy?

Ive been wearing their crocheted pumps all summer, and they're fine.

I've never heard of them! They've got a concession in our local indy department store, I learn, so I'll go and have a look when I'm next in the area: thanks.

Thank you! I finally managed to get into town today, and found just the pair from Pavers.

Ecco? My mother thinks of them as the expensive alternative to Hotter, but I'm not sure that's a completely fair characterisation - and I've certainly had nice, smart sandals from them in the past. Worth a look!
