The purple parka a wear (that's kind of shot) was my mother-in-law's. After she died his sisters insisted I wear it. Living in Texas she didn't wear it much, but I still remembered it on her. I felt rather comforted when I started to wear it. It was a little weird at first but now it's natural.

It is amazing how long the memories linger. monica502 January 27 2008, 15:27:56 UTC
My father died 18 years ago and he still comes back to me with certain smells or sounds.

Smells are strong memory triggers for me. My grandmother wore a certain perfume, and 15 year after she died, if I'm out somewhere and smell that perfume I still look for her. And the smell of dill sends me right to her kitchen in Wisconsin, every time.
