Writer’s Block is still here!…just not on the homepage

Mar 29, 2012 16:04

What happened to Writer’s Block? In our most recent news about Release 90, we announced that Writer’s Block, a long-running homepage feature that posed a new question every day, was going away. We were pretty clear about what was happening; the section headline “Writer’s Block ending” told most people what they needed to know. No ambiguity there, right ( Read more... )

This is crazy. It has been on the homepage for how long now? And we LIKED it there. We could answer or not, depending on mood of the day, question, etc. Now I have to join another community? REALLY?

And this is AFTER (I know) hell was raised because you were killing it to begin with. So...so much for responses and 'response rates'. As for LiveJournal Today/Popular. Haven't we always had some version of that? How does 'moving' or 'removing' Writer's Block change anything? I don't see much of a difference. Only major difference in the homepage is we no longer have Spotlight (that died without so much as a mention or whimper) and I'm guessing for the exact same reason you 'axed' then 'didn't axe, just moved' Writer's Block. So you can make room for your OH.So. POPULAR.Comm! ONTD. Which crashed the servers a few years ago. And discusses things I'm not interested in.

Look, I get that ONTD is hugely popular - there are a helluva lot of members for those comms. But that's not the only reason most of us are at ElJay. And if I wanted to see ( ... )

So, let me get this straight. You claim you were unclear and that people misunderstood, and that while you said "writersblock is ending" and provided other communities but NOT the writersblock one, you really MEANT to say you were moving it?

And you didn't expect people to misunderstand?

REALLY?

Please, just stop lying to us. You only decided to do that after there was a vocal outcry to keep it.

And meanwhile, you removed something people wanted on the home screen to make room for things that no one (other than probably the advertisers, the community owners, and you) want there?

I believe the internet colloquialism for that would be:

FAIL

I thought the post was being sarcastic, as a sort of we-goofed-badly-so-let's-make-fun-of-ourselves-by-pointing-out-how bad-it-was sort of joke.

I one thousand percent concur. Writersblock brought me back to my journal when inspirationally running on empty.

I hope they bring it back.

The "home" page of LJ is a total disaster. Has been for years. Now it is just a joke that needs to stop being told.

Clean it up from the busy mess it has become.

As for the writer's block. It was getting lame and the lack of originality in the picture that would go visualize some aspect of the WB was getting so damn repetitive. BORING.
