Okay, I confess, this post is entirely about White Collar, and just as entirely gratuitous.
... no, there are no shirtless pictures of Neal, it is not that kind of gratuitous. (And I like Neal better with clothes on.)
MORE things that remind me of White Collar.
Previous Things that Remind Me of White Collar

What is Pai Gow?
Look at their CLOTHES.
Phil's rather a lot like Elan, I think.
By the way, Elan (and Nale) are both anagrams of Neal. ;)
This is my brilliant idea for an Order of the Stick/White Collar crossover. Elan and his Evil Twin Nale need an actual fraternal Separated at Birth brother (because they weren't separated at birth, they were separated During Childhood). :D (Besides, Elan is said to be very pretty, just like Neal.)
In which I am not actually sorry.
AND I'M SORRY NEAL, BUT REALLY:
source Distraction, and CRIME.
My favourite comment was "Got to train them early."
One of the things I like best about White Collar is how it is very much a show I can bring home to friends and family.
I can't do that with a lot of the other shows I like: Supernatural, for instance, would never be my mom's thing, by virtue of the gore and creep factor; Chuck would never be my Dad's thing because he finds it ridiculous (oddly enough, it was my brother who introduced me to both those shows). It's a show you can bring home to your mom.
half_sleeping's mom started watching the show all by herself, which I think is amazing.
The thing about watching shows with friends and family (one of the big reasons I like to do it) is that you get different insights on the same show, insights on the people watching it with you and sometimes, insights into yourself.
The surprising tale of Mozzie and my parents
People can really surprise you with the characters they take to, and my parents really surprised me when they both, quite independently took to Mozzie. Completely inadvertently, the set-up was as close to a controlled experiment as you could get: my Dad first saw Mozzie in
Flip of the Coin, and my Mom first saw Mozzie in
The Portrait. They watched the episodes with just me (so they weren't influencing each other; and you can be sure I wasn't influencing them: I like to sit back and watch how people react).
The funniest thing was that they both watched
Flip of the Coin separately, and they both cracked up when Mozzie knocked Aimes down with the limo and announced to Peter, "I was never here." (I didn't laugh; by way of comparison, I watched the same scene and thought, "Oh, Mozzie.")
I told a friend (who has met both my parents) this, saying that I was surprised that my parents both liked Mozzie so much, and my friend surprised me by this exchange:
Friend: "I'm not actually surprised that your parents like Mozzie. Mozzie reminds me of your Dad."
Me: WHAT?!
So of course I simply had to run it by my mom to see what she said, and THIS happened, which was even WORSE:
Me: "So [friend] said that she's not surprised that you guys like Mozzie, because she says he reminds her of Dad."
And then my mom started laughing and nodding in complete agreement, and I was horrified and went, "So you AGREE?!"
And my mom was, "Yes?" in the But of course, you mean you don't see it? way.
Me: .....................................................................
The most flattering description of Mozzie I've read was
this one: "geek-cute, he's smart, he's articulate, and he's got an unusual viewpoint. Not too many sympathetic characters in mainstream TV have that "fight the power" vibe."
... my description of Mozzie would have been, "Bespectacled, receding hairline, smart, lively, talkative, obsessive, KIND OF BATSHIT CRAZY."
... quite apart from the my Dad is like Mozzie thing - I'm a lot like my Dad.
*runs off, screaming*
And also, what I said about getting strange insights into yourself?
I was watching
All In with a friend, when THIS happened:
Friend (to me): "HE (Neal) SOUNDS JUST LIKE YOU!"
Me: ... WHAT.
Regrettably, this was what Neal was saying:
Hughes: What do you know about Pai Gow?
Neal: I know it sounds delicious.
Peter: *gives Neal the Look.* (Well, one of his Looks. This one was the, "I am exasperated and you are pushing it, Caffrey" Look.)
Neal's expression when he was saying it:
... so I sound like Neal when he's mouthing off to Peter?
:/
