Why would I be scathing?

I'm cautiously optimistic. After all, a Joel Schumacher Phantom starring Emmy Rossum this ain't. The difference here is that it looks like the creativity and the work were paired with some semblance of sense.

I am perfectly capable of appreciating something good when it comes along. The problem is just that so much of what's out there is crap.
