Article ideas wanted

I've not updated my chef blog in a year. I desperately need to write new articles, but want some inspiration.

Can you folks give me some cookery-related article ideas? I don't want to keep on writing recipes; that gets boring. If there's something (preferably related to oriental cooking) that you'd like to learn, some technique you want more ( Read more... )

wahoo...look at those responses starting from the coconut and going on about it!

Noella...I find that keeping the onion pan on low flame and sprinkling water until they are well-done works for me.

Yes, my request is this many-hued "curry"...I would like you to give the British version, the Indian version and any other version besides...and I second Thaths' suggestions too. I don't like sushi so I am happy you don't like it too much too..

I would also like your take on non-stick vs. heavy-bottmed vessels (yes I said VESSELS!) for cooking...

You've got enough stuff for the next year methinks.

I would love a good guide on sea food choices available in India. One gets confused with all the different names in Mallu, Tamil, Kannada, Bengali, and good ol' Anglais...

And then, you could also talk about the different oils used in cooking. MOst people tend to use only one kind, but I'm sure there's more to it than that. E.g. My house is sunflower oil only. (with very little gingelly oil... but you get the point, right?)

And then you could write on how to make proper fried rice Oops. No, you could tell people how to substitute ingredients, which is always a dangerous game. If I don't have that authentic far-eastern chilli, what do I use? Etc.

Hope my ideas are not totally lame-o...

Maybe write an abstract article on taste and the elements sweet, spicy, sour, salty and how to improve these elements in one's food as well compensating by adding sugar if its too spicy etc.

The use of tofu as a vegetarian protien source

(see, it already sounds very scholarly and publishable ;))

Real reason, I'd like to get more tofu into my world, but given the variety of tofu available and what I need to do to make it good to eat, I struggle...
