Cooking

In between searching for a job and reading all the scifi books in the dublin library, I've been cooking a lot. Biscuits, pie, stir fry, carmelized onions, jam... just a few of the culinary adventures I've undertaken recently. The jam is damn good, btw. If you have an excess of cherries and the will to pit them all, go here for the recipe: Read more... )

Ha, that sounds a lot like my life right now - job hunting, cooking, reading, crafting. I am going to have to try the pizza! And maybe the strawberry shrub, but I only got two pints of strawberries at the farmers market (...and two of blackberries... and blueberries......) and I made shortcake yesterday, so I expect they'll continue to go in that direction. Sadly, this appears to be the last week of strawberry season here. Maybe there's another kind of strawberry that ripens later in the summer.... *crosses fingers*

(The people I got my strawberries from had THREE DIFFERENT KINDS of strawberries! It was amazing. I could actually taste the difference. Deciding which I liked best, on the other hand, was more difficult ;p )

I found an awesome recipe the other day for strawberry cream cake :) going to have to make that soon. It's on the same website as the jam.

Oooh, three kinds. that is totally awesome. the ones I got this time were red-hearts, totally delicious!

hmmmm, I know someone else who always made pizza on Friday night!

I tried to get your "fast" cornmeal crust out of Julia Child's book a couple weeks ago, but it would take as much time to make as mine. I'm glad to have your secret to the quicker version.

oh gee, where DID I get that idea....

yes, it is different, I really like it. It's a fairly small recipe, but it makes just a perfect amount for me and Glen.

Hugs to you...and let me know if you need any ideas...I have an embarrassingly large cookbook collection...

Yes, that's what it is - uplifting and nuturing and a great hobby that you can always use the product of.

Hehe, my cookbook collection isn't nearly big enough - only two bookshelves full! obviously not nearly done yet.
