distilled personality in a moment free from work (LJ Idol 7.0)

There's something inherently awkward about Introduction Posts. Perhaps it's reminiscent of sitting around a circle in grade school, struggling to come up with something brief, memorable, and interesting about yourself for your classmates to remember you by. Or maybe it's because we're all so much more complex than a simple, or even convoluted, ( Read more... )

We're coming up on 7 billion people on this rock rotating around the sun and permanent solitude is less and less feasible every day. You can be alone in a crowd, but it's hard to be truly alone.

So very true. Great intro post; I look forward to reading more!

Thank you! (Sadly, I had to google to get a decent idea of the number for that...Population studies actually are not my thing!)

I like your introductory paragraphs, talking about what getting to know people, and introductions, really are. Out of curiosity, what's your lit degrees? Mine'll just be a straight boring BA in English Literature once I can get the non-English credits I need for it completed.

Last night I (somewhat sleepily, as it was 2:30 AM and he'd already told me to get my ass in bed a few times at that point) told my fiancé "I'm gonna be a lion tamer when I grow up." "Uh huh," he replied; he's used to my non-sequiteurs. "Actually," I said, "that's a lie. You know why? I don't plan to ever grow up."

Being grown up, I've found, is kind of overrated. I don't know that I want to be grown up by more than half.

I have the straight up BA in English (minored in Theatre) and a M.Phil in Anglo-Irish Literature (which is a mouthful and a half and basically means "IRISH LIT," the course was actually retitled/restructured the very next year to M.Phil Irish Writing).

And I'm kinda with you there on not growing up! It seems to be, as you said, overrated.
