I agree with you on every single point. I loved Percy Jackson although I did feel that the formula was a bit too familiar. I think that it worked so well for JK that many childrens authors have started to latch on to it. Have you read The Graveyard Book yet? I'll be interested to hear what you think about that one as well. I also felt that the movie really fell flat, and hated that they took out anything that could have made a sequel possible.

As for the point you make about disabilities, I believe that many more authors are starting to write about this aspect of childhood. Not all books include it of course, but if you look for them you can find a fair number that talk about these challenges. I think it is very important for kids to read them, and realize that kids (other than themselves) have to struggle with such things.

I haven't read The Graveyard Book, I'll have to pick it up. You give me the best book suggestions.

I'm so glad that people aren't covering up the issues that kids are facing, like the ADHD. It's not something that kids should be ashamed about and seeing kids in books or movies with the same things.
