Goodness, scary. I'm very much hope it is indeed fixed and stays that way.

Thank you - there is a possibility sealing this tear may cause another, so I have another appointment. Whilst apparently this is a common affliction in the short-sighted, it was unexpected and quite scary. And now there are so many floaters in my right eye it's like having a black consetellation of stars constantly right in front of me.

Ooh err. Are you okay?

This doesn't sound like fun ...

It isn't - although had I not been sufficiently concerned to take myself to the JR, there's a good chance the split would have led to a detached retina, which isn't something they can always cure. So I may have avoided going blind in one eye (although there's still a chance of another split ...)

Seriously hope it's feeling better today.

I may have to have laser surgery on my left eye for diabetic eye damage - have to go back to Guys Hospital in a few weeks to see if it's improved or not...

I believe that's a different sort of laser - this was argon laser, pretty straightforward according to the doctor. They do on average one a day, although only 2-3% of those who attend with an increase in floaters actually have anything wrong (I was in the 2-3%). Fingers crossed you don't need the surgery, although if you do by my experience it's painless (just uncomfortable holding still for it).
