I thought since we're almost two weeks into September I'd just post up this poll for those of you who have finished Melusine and are ready to talk about it to let me know you're at that stage. When half+ the participants in this month's book reading frenzy have answered this poll, I'll put up the nitty gritty down-and-dirty discussion post. Hope ( Read more... )

I thought I'd be a good book club memeber and get my copy at Powell's on the 31st, and start it on the first. Neat and clean, right?
I finished it on the 3rd. The 3rd. I should have remembered that I'm a fast reader (when it's fiction) and factored that in. I've actually re-read the last half now.

I caved and bought The Virtu today. It's right there, just under the new Prachett novel. Staring at me. Wanting to be read.

Must... not... cave... I want that book so bad. Especially after reading the first 4 chapters of it on Sarah Monette's website. When I've finished all the shopping I need to do for things i still need for my dorm and food and all that, I will probably be getting The Virtu.

I hear you. If you're like me and you want to wait until the discussion has started, you should hold off on buying it. Having it right here is such a temptation. But I don't want to accidently drop a spoiler.
I'm sure I can wait another week or so. Maybe.

(P.S. I like your icon. Everyone needs a little crazy in their patriarch.)

I have almost caved many times now, but then I look at my wallet and check the fridge and remember that I am a poor college student and eating comes first. Most of the time.

(Thank you. I completely agree.)

I'm racing through it so I can be the community naysayer on this one. I get why peopel want to like it -- I wanted to like it. But why they actually like it? I think it's like reading MPREG -- I just don't have the receptor sites.

I am really dismayed there is no "Ye--sort of," answer for this poll.

I KEEP MEANING TO READ IT.

We could just like...postpone this until the third or last week in September to make sure everyone can participate. I wanted to read the book again anyways to confirm some of my ideas. (and complete a nice review of why this book just wasn't for me)

Yup! those were basically my thoughts; I just wanted to get a head count on those who were done and keep track of those who finish so that I know how best to balance out the timing on this thing. :)
