I thought since we're almost two weeks into September I'd just post up this poll for those of you who have finished Melusine and are ready to talk about it to let me know you're at that stage. When half+ the participants in this month's book reading frenzy have answered this poll, I'll put up the nitty gritty down-and-dirty discussion post. Hope ( Read more... )

Argh, I read Melusine in about three days and now I'm searching high and low in all the bookshops for Swordspoint and The Virtu - but none of them have them! *Wail!*
It seems Forbidden Planet of all places is the only one to stock Sarah Monette - unbelievable! Looks like I'm going to have to resort to ordering them online. *Pout*

Can I argue for the possiblity of several discussion posts -- ne general one and then some for more specific aspects of the book (i.e., characterization, world building, magickal system)? Because I have some pretty arcane places I want to go without driving everyone nuts, and I do think it helps to look at the thing on levels too.

Totally. I was curious if doing it this way would be good, but the more I was thinking about it the better I thought having separate posts to discuss characters, relationships, the world, etc. would make be quite useful.

word. As much as this book has driven me up teh wall, it may be one of teh best thigns that has ever happened to me. (she says from page three of her novel, really, for sure, this time).

I would really like to get some sort of small like minded writing group going, too. Or maybe that's because I am selfish and really curious about this novel.

Also, I really agree that this was sort of a huge kick in the pants for me in a lot of ways.

Am I unfeeling in that I think we should just go ahead? Perhaps others have forgotten this poll and just need a reminder to fill it out, but since we are rapidly nearing the end of the month, my pushy self is ready to go ahead. Plus, I just read 'The Virtu' this weekend and I am SO ready to have people to talk about 'Melusine' with it's making me twitchy.
