I know that I haven't talked to you in ages and never really have talked to you in depth much, but I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. Take it for what it's worth, but here is my opinion on things. Don't cut yourself off. I did that for years. It turned out that when I handed my fear and pain from past ecperiences over to God that He really started to place those close friends in my life. I think it's sometimes actually about how much you trust Him rather than trusting them when he brings someone new in. Maybe that's the case here. I wouldn't try to rush things, but I wouldn't step away either. I'd say just pray and follow God's leading. Maybe this is a new close friend that God has for you, maybe not. Either way, God's got a great friend in store for you!
