I laugh a little.
Why is this so hard?
This is Rem. I've known him longer than I've known anyone, except James. I can tell him anything, indeed I have.

My eyes meet his.
"D'you want to go to the Yule Ball with me?"

There, said it. And I didn't mumble, I didn't rush it. I just asked.

I smile at him and stretch out the answer just that millisecond for a tiny bit of torture.

Very calmly and like it was a foregone conclusion, which it was, I answer. "Sure, hey you want to study with me."

HE ASKED ME...MENTAL WOOOO-HOOOO!!!!!!

I give him a grin and a nudge. Softly I say, "Sirius, I would love to be your date."

I exhale softly and relax. I didn't realise I was holding my breath.

HE SAID YES!!!

I know I shouldn't be so surprised, but I have learned not to take Rem for granted.

"Thankyou." I kiss him softly. "Ok, where d'you want to study?"
