Every since Russia invaded Ukraine I have been duplicating this journal elsewhere with the idea that I might have to let this journal go. I wasn't sure if the US would be doing any business with the Russians. All my private entries are on that blog too.

Did my last haunted house Saturday night. We ended up having a cast party at Richie the Stage Manager's family home and I stayed pretty late. Before I get into the main musings on this post, I have a petty mini rant. Kevin's birthday was Tuesday. His brother's family sent him a gift card to The Cheesecake Factory for $250. I never wanted October to be over more than I do now.

Thursday night at the haunted house made it all feel easy and boring. Things picked up a bit more on Friday. I started guiding then. It was fun. I developed a good persona and a good patter. Crowds were heavier than Thursday, but more sporadic.

Saturday we had our last performance. Sunday we took down the set.

The ending of the show was bittersweet for many reasons. I am almost always super sad when a show is over. A play becomes the focus of my life and it leaves a hole when it's over. I started this year feeling despondent that nothing was going on. I had no plans for unusual activities or grand adventures. Then I was sidelined by my broken collarbone, which made any grand adventures impossible if I had any.

I think I made up for that in the second half of 2024 and continue to do so.

I left everyone in suspense with my last post. I had two major events hanging in the air. How was my show? Did we figure out a solution for the two conflicting parties?

Tootsie opens in two days. I feel pretty good about it. There are some spots that still feel awkward to me, but I think they will smooth out over time. I don't anticipate opening night to be my finest hour, but I think I will continue to get in my groove.

Opening night is Friday the 13th! Let's hope that doesn't mean anything.

Rehearsals are going well. We have run both acts twice and they are flowing well. Tonight we do our first full run. We had a cast member drop out at the last minute earlier this week.
