We all want to say it, but there are practicalities...I don't have have a Job that has health insurance. Jeff is too young to have a job worth anything. I cannot provide the things his family can.. right now. AND beyond that...in a Chinese Family, not matter how awful the conditions are, its YOUR family. It is rare to find any asian gay man that completely separates from his family... If I didn't know better I would say its racially genetic. Its a very hard thing for westerners to understand. I do and that sustains me.

i wish i could do that...the romantic in me really wants to...
but between school and healthcare, i know i can't risk losing my financial support. my prescriptions alone would cost about $500 each month if i didn't have my father's insurance covering me...
Thank you, rock_bear!... :)tkn1114March 25 2005, 13:47:58 UTC
I hate to say it, but everytime I play it safe, I regret it! What is youth scared of these days? Losing what they actually have or what they think they have and may lose? I sympathize but I bet if his dad really loved him he'll get over it and respect quirkypandabear as an adult. His son - but an adult. My mother did even though for a long while I thought c'est fini! How utterly asian, though, to blackmail! You should have told him: "You should have left black mail in the old country, dad!" :) GOOD LUCK with HAH-VAARD or wherever you're going to school! Must be one of them Ivy Leagues else you would'nt need so much funding?
Sweetie, I'm really sorry that it's come down to this. Perhaps over time, your parents will come around. In the meantime, this seriously sucks. I hope you find a solution for happiness soon.
Sorry to hear you have to go through this and just hope it's one of those "if it doesn't kill you it will make you stronger" type of things. I completely understand the funding issue with college but just know that it IS possible for you to pay for school thanks to the U.S. government. I should know, I'm STILL paying them off! Keep your chin up, hun. This too shall pass.

unfortunately, school isn't the only thing i need to worry about paying for - my healthcare gets pricy, especially with 5-6 prescriptions
