[Hello, Vatheon! Say hi to Yomiel, who is currently hanging around GrubMart, looking through the various things they have for sale. He turns on the SFC, looking as if he is mentally deliberating something.]
I've noticed for a while that there are computers out and about in some of the shops...I have a question. Does anyone actually use them? ( Read more... )

so bored over here, filtering to my own madness, brb bothering terezi, give me some work, totally not going to hack your servers, best computer programmer ever

You're good with computers huh?

They still make those things?

[Forgive him. He was before the internet boom.]

[Quirking an eyebrow over here.]

Um, yeah. Why wouldn't they make them? They're practically the bedrock of technology.

Why? Not like they do anything special.

I'm actually really impressed with the technology they have here! It's a lot less... banged up than where I'm from.

Yeah, they've done a pretty good job at keeping everything up to date. No internet, though.

Banged up? What do you mean?

...What's an internet?

Well... How do I put it... It took a lot of work just to keep things running. The entire planet is a desert, so there's all that, and most of the technology we do have is kind of second-hand.

...You know what, I'm not even going to bother to explain.

A desert? Where do you get water? And food?

[[...what does he mean "what these are?" That should be a fairly obvious fact. Perhaps he hasn't read up on sylladices enough to know the terminology. She's yet to consider the possibility that people who aren't from their world don't have sylladices.]]

That's a captchalogue card. It's used to store and recall artifacts, and is kept within the captchalogue deck of one's sylladex.

Store artifacts, huh? Like real physical objects?

...And what, exactly, is a sylladex?

Yes, such as computers. Laptops would be a better option though, because it would be a little impractical to store a desktop computer what with all of the hardware it requires.

And you really don't know what a sylladex is? A sylladex is your inventory of sort. Far more useful than a satchel of any sort, unless it happens to magical. And then it would be up for debate.

Yeah, I can understand that.

No. We don't have sylladexes back where I come from. Though, the word "inventory" just makes me think of a video game, really. Back home we just store stuff in boxes. Or bags. Sometimes both.

[ Delirium's SFC was practically useless - from the time she first "arrived" in Vatheon up till the present, she has lost her SFC twenty six times. Twenty seven would have been the definite number, but she found it in a miraculous chance event. ]

[ She was playing with its features before she felt somebody call her. Through the SFC, that is. Delirium blinked and played with it some more. ]

[ Delirium decided upon reaching the fifth minute of messing around with the SFC, that she was tired of playing with it, and would rather answer Yomiel properly. So she felt herself slip away, carefully and slowly - she inched further and further into the city, seeing it from above and seeing it from below, but not enough to leave the bubble entirely.

Stupid city. She couldn't leave. Stupid city. ]

[ Delirium re-appeared like a quiet mist behind Yomiel. First her legs, then her waist, then her arms, hands until her eyes stared at his back. She had successfully transported. ]

[ She approached him as he scanned GrubMart's aisles, hands behind her back. Her hair was still multicolored, but today half her hair was standing up comically and the other side of her head was shaved in patterns like lightning bolts and crucifixes and pentel pens. ]

What are you doing?

[As Yomiel sees Delirium playing with the SFC, he resists the urge to sigh. What was he expecting from er, really? But when she suddenly disappears, and he hears the sound of her voice behind him, he can't help but freeze in place, eyes darting behind his shades.]

Heh. Guess you can get around quicker than I though. Why am I not surprised?

[And he turns around, hands in his pockets.] Oh, just browsing. They certainly do have some fascinating technology here...

[Derp.]

So I've been told. But what exactly does one "captchalogue", anyways?

toreuhhhdork May 31 2011, 23:34:44 UTC
Uhh... A-anything you want! Mostly, anyway. Yeah.

Mostly? Why, is there a limit to what you can put in there?
