Wow, some people are really crazy... this woman on TLC's "A Baby Story" actually believes that it is primitive to push a baby out at birth, opting instead for an elective cesarean section. So I called her, and it seems like the admit is going to happen. The uncertain thing is funding... Tim and I did some math this weekend, and realized that NEC will have to give me close to 30K for it to be possible for me to attend. Holy crap! Just got back yesterday from a trip to Pittsburgh - I auditioned for Jeanne Baxtresser. (She was principal flutist for New York Phil for 30 years, as well as a professor at Juilliard.) She has since retired to teach full-time at NEC and Carnegie-Mellon University. (CMU ( Read more... )

Well, the audition went well. I advanced to semifinals again, and was one out of four people to do so. They only selected two people for finals (of course), and I wasn't one of them. Was really bummed unil I talked to my teacher who assured me that advancing at all is a great achievement, and in all liklihood, I was cut because my sound is too ( Read more... )

Just bored enough at work to write in this again... Life is certainly different. That job I mentioned in October as stable and rewarding? Got laid off in December... spent a month unemployed, but now work in the DC offices of Procter & Gamble. That competition I mentioned? Turned the draft of my paper in today. We'll see what the teacher has to say. I ended up BSing a lot more than I wanted to, but oh well...
