My husband is currently working on a program that will hopefully allow me to save all my LJ entries just in case. I’ve been on here since 2003, that’s a lot of entries to try and save and I have never been able to import them to DW, it always fails for me.
I’m a bit concerned about what I’m seeing on the front page as well. I’ve thought about switching for awhile. But I don’t like Dreamwidth so I don’t know what I’ll do yet.
I may not get an entry in but not because of this - I’m just exhausted from my first week of radiation and struggling to think of ideas. But I still have time, so we’ll see.
I wasn't sure what people were talking about with that "on the front page" until I looked at the popular posts thread. Then of course I clicked on them until I found it.
It was pretty horrifying. But then again, by clicking on it I made sure it was listed on the automated most popular posts a little longer.
Yeah I hate that I contributed to the popularity of the post. This one had a title that made it seem it was about something else, but then had graphic images of dead children. I’m not going to click on any more from the front page.
I’m still here for now. I may move over to DW or something for posting eventually and just share here, I don’t know yet. I think we have all my entries downloaded now.
I had a few doctors apts today and a migraine that just wouldn't stop, so I'm going to assume this serves as our Weds Green Room? =) I was just coming to post an evening edition, but I'm glad it got there! I'm going to be in the dentist for like... hours tomorrow (*booooface*), so I'd be happy to Green Room us for Friday, if that'll help, hon!

Just seeing this now. I hope the doctor/ dentist appointments are all for relatively minor things! You’ve been doing great with the Green Rooms and I’d love if you could continue them starting again Friday (since you are busy today). I just felt it necessary to address the current situation and let people know there was a backup plan.
I've been told that it is morally indefensible to stay. I've also been told that it would be a bad thing (they didn't say "morally indefensible" but they did indicate that it wouldn't be "the right thing") to leave and abandon the platform and give it up entirely to those trolls and propaganda accounts that have been popping up over the last few weeks.
I, too, have heard the OMG LJ IS GOING TO BE SHUT DOWN!1!!!111ONE rumors many, many times before so I'm not lowering my skeptical eyebrow yet.
I will note, however, that my automatic payment to LJ was supposed to go through on 2/28 and that hasn't happened. So I can verify that the world banking freeze against Russia is fully activated.
Thanks for posting here. I know there have been the rumors of closing down, but I'm honestly more upset about the propaganda platform that's showing up on the home page. It's definitely not what I expected.
I'm PROBABLY going to have yamyam_kat bow out, because the mutilation posts on the home page are uncalled for, and my kid doesn't need to see those when posting an entry.
I think you're wise to get her off here. All social media, really. BUT, she's got such great writing skills and is enjoying working with the medium. YOU should post for her. There are a fair amount of Idolars who keep a low profile and they can stay in the game for an admirable amount of time.
Anyone else think we're simply Consumers in this Modern Age? And perhaps the endless consumption of raw isn't good for the digestive system that is inside our skullbone?
I'm slowly backing away from all my social media and that means my LJ is going to end up very very filtered.
I think our habits online are simply consumed by the algorithms and then ads are spit back at us, and I want to back away also, but I also love the siren song of the scroll. It’s hard.
I've slowly backed away more and more from social media over the years. It started off as a "sick of keeping up with the Joneses" kind of thing, where it's hard to remember that what you see on social media are the highlights of other peoples' lives and easy to feel down about your own life. But more recently, I've decided to just stick with my small bubble of people who know and care about me. Instagram is about the only social media I use, because all of my family is on it and I like seeing photos of my nieces and nephew, but I rarely post.
It's hard to believe that there was once life before the internet and smartphones sometimes.

We may set up a DW account and post that way, I think it largely depends on how things continue here on LJ.
