Pairing: Yoochun/Changmin
Rating: PG-13
Genre: High school fic (this is a genre, I swear)
A/N: This is part B.
Link to part A.
Summary: How was Yoochun supposed to know returning the disgusting pink sweater would lead to Shim Changmin thinking he had the hots for him, and that it would come true?
At the end of the day, he was forced to take Junsu over to Taemin's house since there was no soccer practice because of the soupy fields.
Pulling up to a quaint little house, Junsu jumped out excitedly and ran to the door, ringing the doorbell. When Yoochun finally came up behind Junsu, the door opened up to show an always-grinning Taemin.
"Oh, hey Junsu, Yoochun. Come on in..."
The house was larger than it appeared, and impeccably clean. Following Taemin through the house, the reached the living room, where, surprisingly, Changmin was sitting on the couch. Papers were scattered across the table with formulas all over them. Jerking his head up, Changmin nodded sharply before looking back down at the papers.
"Hello," he said absentmindedly, flipping a page over. "Taemin, come over here, I need to talk to you about this one equation."
Scurrying over, Taemin nodded enthusiastically as Changmin explained where he had gone wrong in solving the problem. When he finished, he looked up and smiled apologetically at Junsu.
"I'm so sorry! I forgot to tell you that I would probably be caught up in math team stuff for an hour after school. We have a competition coming up."
Junsu smiled soothingly, "Oh, no, it's no trouble at all. I figure we have about half an hour before you're done and we don't mind waiting, do we?"
Looking expectantly and Yoochun, Junsu was giving him a look that clearly stated that they were staying regardless of what else he had planned. Yoochun nodded, not particularly concerned with the short wait. However, after the first hour passed, he began to grow concerned.
Scooting over to Junsu, he whispered fiercely in his ear, "What happened to 30 minutes?"
Shrugging, Junsu turned away from Yoochun and started playing with his phone again.
"I imagine that math team stuff requires a lot of practice."
Yoochun sneered, "Math practice my ass, this is taking too fucking long! They've been on the same problem for 20 minutes, and Taemin still doesn't get it."
"If you're going to complain about it, maybe you should help him."
"It's not my fault he's an idiot and I have to wait for him."
Junsu tutted, "He's not dumb, it's simply this problem. Anyways, I don't imagine you'd be able to explain it."
Despite knowing that Junsu was simply trying to rile him, Yoochun decided to take the bait. He heaved himself up and stalked over to where Taemin was sitting and promptly sat down next to him. He figured this would keep him occupied for the wait.
"So, you're having a tough time with this problem?" Yoochun started, trying to appear friendly and helpful, though he did sound slightly angry.
Nodding, Taemin pointed, "Yes, I can't quite understand the formula. We've tried a bunch of different problems, but I haven't gotten it."
Looking carefully, Yoochun grinned, "Oh, this one's easy. Here, let me show you..."
Writing it all out, Yoochun carefully deconstructed the problem. Junsu chuckled when Taemin jumped up in excitement, finally understanding the problem.
"Yes! Thank you so much Yoochun!" Taemin reached over and hugged him tightly.
Yoochun smiled warmly and patted his head, "No problem."
Changmin smirked and nodded appreciatively, "Not bad, Park. Not bad at all. Maybe you should join our team, or would that take away too much of your time that you usually spend cruising the mall for unsuspecting girls?"
Yoochun laughed humorlessly, "Of course it would. And what a horrible rep I'd have, I'm supposed to be the heartthrob bad boy, not some nerdy kid from an after school special like you."
Taemin wobbled between the two, dazed from the animosity between the two, "I thought you two liked each other now!"
The silence was deafening as Taemin was shot down with cold stares. Junsu found Taemin's helplessness slightly amusing, but otherwise felt sorry for the boy, and decided to let it drag on only half as long as he usually would have.
"Well, then! How about we spend some quality time together, since you all are done with your silly math stuff, right?"
Managing to calm everyone down, Junsu sat down around the table with Yoochun as they waited for Changmin and Taemin to get back from the kitchen. Yoochun was breathing deeply.
"What the fuck was that?! Why's the little bastard have to say it that way? Like...like he was insinuating some shit. And how did I get to fighting, yet again?"
Junsu sighed, "Look, you're already like a married couple, am I right? And Taemin did have a point, and Changmin did have an equally frantic look on his face. I imagine that is a couple points here for the team, so don't worry. Things will work out."
Yoochun covered his face with his hands, moaning, "Shiiiit. How do you know this stuff for sure?"
"Good things happen to bad people, sometimes. You have hope, Yoochun."
"That doesn't help."
Taemin and Changmin walked in, carefully carrying drinks, candy, and chips. Setting it down, they took Junsu's cheerful smile as a sign he was pleased with what they had brought, rather than the sign of smugness it really was.
"Well, then, I asked Changmin what had happened last night, but all I heard was him talking badly about his father, would you mind telling me what else happened?" Taemin looked expectantly at Yoochun, grinning.
"Oh, well, my car broke down, thanks to idiot Junsu. Some time passed, we got bored, played games and finally his dad came along, filled the car up with gas and left. He was a very kind and warm man, a lot like a teddy bear."
Junsu chuckled, "I can wholeheartedly agree. I could tell he was an honest kind of man the moment he asked me which member of the Village People I preferred."
"Ohh, so that's what he asked. Lovely."
Everyone turned to look sympathically at Changmin.
"Well, at least he really cares about you. It's sort of like you, scaring people away from Sooyeon." Taemin cheerfully pointed out.
Yoochun jumped up excitedly, "That's exactly what I said! Thank you, Taemin. I knew I liked you for a reason."
Taemin giggled and Junsu started looking through the food that had been brought. He picked up a red wrapped hard candy and he brightened up excitedly.
"You certainly bulked up, there's enough food here to feed 8 people. Were you expecting some more company?"
Taemin carefully eyed Changmin before answering, "Well, you see, I've come to find out that Changmin eats more than most people. It was a precaution."
Yoochun and Junsu held back laughter, though it was obvious what they were doing, as their faces turned red and they both began coughing.
"I would like to say that I'm a growing boy with certain needs, and those needs include a little more food than most people."
"A little?!" Taemin burst out, laughing.
Yoochun smirked, "Now that I'm thinking back, you were ordering a bucket of ice cream for yourself, weren't you?"
"That was for my family, not just me!"
Yoochun shrugged, "We all know that you were gonna be the one to eat most of it."
Changmin reddened, "Well, what about you? At least I don't try to fuck everything with a hole."
"Hey, that's not true. They have to have boobs too."
Changmin sighed, "Have I told you that you infuriate me?"
Yoochun grinned and looked fondly at the boy across from him, "Have I told you that you're adorable when you're angry?"
Changmin blushed and pursed his lips testily, "You're annoying."
"Aw, can't you take a compliment? I say you're adorable, and you make a cute face like that, but you still have such a sharp tongue."
Junsu ducked his head, attempting to cover up his amusement, before getting up.
"Well, Taemin, could you show me your room? I wanted to see the soccer ball you'd mentioned if you don't mind."
Understanding what he was trying to do, Taemin nodded vigorously before getting up in a rush. As they left to go upstairs, Junsu was scowling at Yoochun, mouthing for him to 'get to work' on Changmin. As the two childish boys walked out of sight, there was a shift of mood. There was a underlying tension that was bothering Yoochun, and as he looked up to smile at Changmin, he was again struck by what was going on.
He had been living a certain way all his life, simply grabbing any girl he wanted, and laughing about it the next day, and suddenly now he had started to like a boy. It made no sense, because it meant he would have to change his way of life. However, he was more than willing to, and it made it seem more real, because it meant that Changmin truly was special to him, if he would go make a fool out of himself by attempting to casually seduce him.
He never thought that it would be so difficult, trying to stop oneself from simply reaching out and pulling another person into a kiss. And he never, ever thought that anyone could be completely oblivious to his radiating lust. Changmin had yet to even really look at Yoochun as he struggled to fight his natural tendencies.
"So!" Yoochun finally burst out, snapping Changmin out of his daze.
"Um...how about Junsu and Taemin? They get along really well."
Changmin nodded indifferently, "Yes, they're both the type to get along with nearly everyone, so it's not surprise they get along extra well. Their happiness boosts the others until it's one huge smiling contest. I think that sort of friendship is more abusive and messed up than ours."
"Heh, I guess it is. Competing over happiness would be bad. But, uh, what about ours?"
"Well, I figured it sort of started through hating each other, which isn't quite right. And it seems we can't go too long without fighting."
Yoochun nodded and the conversation shifted back into an uncomfortable silence. Yoochun was growing increasingly impatient, and Changmin seemed to be getting annoyed. Every time he tried to speak, Yoochun would quickly clamp his mouth back shut, uncertain. Eventually, Changmin started up another conversation.
"So, you had said that you don't like Sooyeon anymore?"
"Um...no, no I don't."
"Well, why not? What changed?"
Yoochun couldn't help but feel that Changmin was trying to reason with him, trying to convince him to start liking Sooyeon again. Trying to convince Yoochun to give him a reason to hate him again.
"Um, we talked, and it just sort of...didn't fit right. It wasn't how it usually is with most of the girls I've chased after, and I knew I couldn't have anything but a platonic relationship with her."
Changmin looked away restlessly, "Well, um, do you like anyone else?"
Yoochun flinched. He didn't want to lie, but telling Changmin he did like someone could possibly lead to more uncomfortable situations, more so than the one they were currently in. However, if he didn't tell him the truth, he would feel guilty and it would probably end up slipping out, causing Changmin to think he was a liar. Stuck in a deadlock, Yoochun firstly decided to stop using the 'all angles' method of decision-making since it made things harder, and secondly decided that honesty was the best policy at the moment.
"Urm, yeah, I do."
At that, Changmin brightened considerably. "That's great! I'm sure she'll go out with you if you ask her."
"Yeah...well, I'm sure 'she' would, if she were a girl."
"I see. Decided to try out for the other team?"
Yoochun laughed, starting to feel more comfortable, "Yeah, something like that. It's only because I spent so much time with you, I think you turned me or something."
The two both let out strained laughs, both correspondingly recognizing the undertones of the statement. Yoochun was horrified at saying it, and Changmin seemed a little unhinged.
"Well, I suppose either way, they would say yes. You're...you're a cool guy."
Yoochun nodded and thanked him, before guardedly questioning Changmin.
"So, what about you? Do you like anyone?"
Changmin bristled before nodding, "Yeah...I do."
Yoochun smiled, weakly attempting to ease back into a nice conversation like before.
"Well, what're they like? Nice, smart, the image of perfection?"
Changmin shrugged, "I - well, I haven't known them for long. I know he's funny, and smart, but definitely not perfect. Actually, he's pretty different than all the other people I've liked. He's a little wild, but I can tell he's a good guy, even if he tries to put up the macho front. But, even though he's awesome, I just feel like I'm making up my feelings for him in my head. It seems way too quick."
Yoochun began to feel a mild interest toward the guy. The fondness in Changmin's voice was clear, and the thought of competing with such a guy was intimidating.
"Well, now that I've answered that, how about your guy? What's he like?"
Yoochun smiled nervously before answering, "Well, like you, I just recently met him. But as far as I can tell, he seems perfect except his tendency to lash out. He's funny, smart, nice in an offbeat sort of way, and just...he's obviously the first guy I've ever liked, and it was pretty quick, but it feels different. It's always refreshing to see him, talk to him. I'm sure it's not in my head."
Ducking his head, he realized belatedly that he had just described Changmin's personality well enough and pointed out the situation behind liking the certain individual to cause Changmin to recognize exactly who Yoochun liked. After all, the boy wasn't dense, and now it would just take a couple seconds before a look of realization spread over his face and Yoochun was beaten bloody and verbally assaulted.
He tightly closed his eyes, flinching, preparing for the attack. Instead, a minute passed and nothing happened. Cracking open an eye, Yoochun saw Changmin, completely calm and not murderous.
"So...what happened there? You sort of assumed the fetal position and shrunk away."
"Oh, well, you see, I thought that possibly you'd be jealous and fly into a fit of rage, beating me with the table or something."
Yoochun smiled teasingly until he looked at Changmin again. He looked positively crestfallen. He floundered for a moment, trying to speak and find the right words. Eventually he regained his composure, although he still looked pained.
"I...look, I'm sure you already know it from what you've said, and even if you don't, I figure I'll tell you now. You're the guy. The one I was just talking about, the one I'm confused over."
Changmin paused, quickly looked over at Yoochun, then continued.
"Shit. Saying it now, it sounds dumb as hell. I mean, we've talked for only several hours, and here I am, spilling my guts as you sit here thinking about the guy you like. Fuck, I'm a dumbass. Look, I'll just leave now, since I know this if probably the weirdest thing to happen to you in a while."
Before he could get up, he heard Yoochun laugh.
"Are you seriously that dumb? I sit here, talk about you, and you don't even realize it. Well, I guess the same could be said about me too. But, no, please sit down."
Changmin frowned, "Fuck. Are you serious? This is...this is so messed up. Worse than I hoped. Damn it, you're not supposed to like me!"
"What? You know you're supposed to be happy when the person you like likes you back, right? Or, shit, was this some complex prank on me?"
Changmin grunted, "As if someone would waste that much time on you. No, this is real. But, shit. First, I'm not supposed to end up with some horny teenage punk, and more importantly, I'm not supposed to cock-block Sooyeon."
"You do realize Sooyeon does not have a penis, right?"
"That's what you think."
"Wait, what?!" Yoochun spluttered.
Changmin smirked, "I was kidding. Vagina-block just doesn't sound right. But seriously, I'm not supposed to got out with people Sooyeon likes."
Yoochun sighed, "What the hell? Is this some sort of rule or something between sisters and brothers? I've never had a problem with stealing girls from Yoohwan."
"I feel horrible for your brother. And it's not a rule, it's just wrong. Like stealing ice cream from a kid. Honestly, it would've been fine last night, but Sooyeon was simply gushing about you after you dropped be off and all day at school, talking about how great a boyfriend you would make. She even said she would spoon you, which is certainly farther than any other guy has gone with her."
Yoochun grumbled, "Look, you like me back, right? Why should we let her come between us? I didn't do anything to her that would make her think I'm interested, and I really do like you."
As soon as he finished his sentence, there was a loud crash behind them. Junsu and Taemin were sprawled out on the floor, Taemin red-faced and Junsu giggling madly.
"See! You call me a sap, but you just let out a line like that," Junsu cackled.
"You were there the whole time weren't you, you bitch!" Yoochun pointed accusingly.
"'Don't let her come between our love!'" Junsu mimicked, making faces and obscene noises.
"We...we just wanted to see how things were coming along," Taemin feebly offered.
"Better, if Changmin didn't act like Sooyeon was his goddamn girlfriend and he was cheating on her or some shit."
Changmin flushed angrily, "Shut up! Just 'cause I care about my sister's feelings doesn't mean you have to act like such a dick."
"Maybe you should think about yourself. If you keep babying her, she won't be able to handle anything, let alone a stable relationship. So, please, do this for me, for you and for Sooyeon. And also Junsu and Taemin, with their stupid planning."
Everyone leaned in, looking expectantly at Changmin, grinning readily for the answer.
"I hate all of you fuckers. Why'd you put me in this situation? I like you a lot, Yoochun. I meant everything I said, and I - I'd love to try and make something out of this insanity."
"So does that make it a yes?" Yoochun asked impatiently.
"Yes, genius, it does."
Junsu and Taemin clapped their hands and started jumping up and down excitedly, and Yoochun clapped a hand down on Changmin's shoulder.
"I see you've finally grown a pair."
Changmin slapped the hand away, "You obviously don't know shit about going out with people. You don't treat them like your friend, you treat them like your boyfriend."
"Shut the hell up, okay? I've been gay for a day, and you've been gay since you were born, as far as I can tell."
Changmin tapped his chin, "Nope, you were always gay. Maybe bisexual. What was it you said? Yes, it was a 'latent' gayness. I still think all those girls were beards, though."
"So...what now?" Yoochun was clearly at a loss what to do now that he had his very first boyfriend.
"Well, according to the homosexual manual, we must go and out ourselves to the world by performing sexual acts in public."
"...you're joking, right?"
Changmin let out a sultry grin, "Only if you want me to be."
"How about we water it down to kissing?"
Changmin pouted, "Not even groping? What happened to that wild boy I was talking about before, ya scared?"
Yoochun looked affronted, "No! Just...I don't want any of my exes to die of shock."
Junsu coughed, gaining attention, "Now, I don't mean to interrupt this...whatever it is. But, it seems like you two are very close to making out, and there happens to be some virgin eyes over here, so I wouldn't want to be held responsible if it comes up at the dinner table and you get a phone call from Taemin's mom."
Both teens nodded, and Yoochun turned back to face his new boyfriend.
"So, we'll save this for tomorrow?"
"In front of the school, by the benches. I'll be there in the morning, probably with Jaejoong."
Yoochun groaned, "Why did you become friends with him? He'll have more chances to harass me now. Not that he didn't already have practically every moment of my life."
"Either way, your ass is mine tomorrow. And everyone will know it."
As Yoochun finally managed to pull out of Taemin's driveway, he was excited for school tomorrow, which hadn't happened in quite some time. He knew that tomorrow, his brother would see him come out, as would a lot of other people who respected him as the ladies' man he was known as. However, no matter at which angle he looked at it, he couldn't find an honest reason to be nervous.
The next day, Shim Sooyeon was in for a slightly unpleasant surprise. She discovered her perfect man had managed to change sexual preference within a day, and was now dating her brother. While everyone at school now knew the two boys were dating, only her close friends knew she liked Yoochun.
Only her family knew that when she was 4 years old went on a ride with her father at a carnival, only to come off it and throw up. Fewer people knew that Park Yoochun had seen a young girl hurl and no one knew that the pinkish vomit would manage to affect their relationship some 11 years later.

So, that's the way the cookie crumbles, right? I hope you all enjoyed it, and despite that horrible delay I have finished my first chaptered fic in this fandom. I may or may not write a sequel, as I usually am persuaded or convince myself it's necessary.
Thanks to all the readers who have stuck with this!
