Many of my friends know that I was brought up in a very liberal church denomination called the United Church of Christ. My dad's a (now retired) minister of the UCC, my mom is also an ordained minister of Christian education. Though I no longer believe in what I would call the spiritual or faith aspect, I have a tremendous appreciation for the ( Read more... )

May I copy this (in whole or in part) to my LJ? Or would you care to make this post public, so that I may point people to it?

At least this should finally fix in people's minds that Obama is not, in fact, Muslim; apparently lots of people care about that.

Didn't you see the picture of him in a turban? It's obvious can't be trusted.

Generally I'm more of a New Testament (turn the other cheek) than an Old Testament (eye for an eye) person, but if memory serves, isn't there a long history of political candidates speaking at religious institutions? Bob Jones University is almost a required destination on the Republican campaign tour.

I hope this is settled in short order, and attracts as much media attention as it deserves. The way Obama has handled attempts at mudslinging so far has been almost exemplary, and I'm sure this isn't going to be the issue that drags down his campaign.

That is ridiculous.

I am sure the UCC will beat the wrap but it is crazy that they have to spend the money and resources to do so. I was involved in the UCC many monns ago as well and they definately helped shape me (don't hold that against them though)...my thoughts are with them.
