If there's one thing I really hate, it's Friends Politics. Well actually it's being stuck on a really hot train... or someone spilling wine on my guitar... or getting a parking ticket on a hill in the middle of nowhere at 10:30 on a Friday night... but for the purpose of this entry, let's pretend it's Friends Politics. I finally bit the bullet and watched requiem for a dream last night...pretty interesting, loved the camera direction etc but I'm still not sure anything actually happened in the film? :S A few junkies gettin fucked up and an old woman going mad from eating diet pills and thats about it, although I was glued to the screen for the whole duration. Some of the direction was great though, like the zoom in of the pupils dilating etc.

It's a film about the downward spiral of addiction and I think the way they portray that is more important than the narrative storyline; and I think they do it incredibly.
