[ This whole situation has just been chaos and confusion and danger and nothing she wanted to have to see her daughter deal with right now. They'd just been reunited, this was too much. She'd found her way to the new Roadhouse, had been trying to help out however she could, but she hadn't yet found her daughter.
So, naturally, seeing Jo across a room full of people who were not in a stable state, any of them, with Dean Winchester...
And there aren't any lip-to-lip contact moments happening, but a mother can sense when things are strange. And Ellen's first instinct is to go and make sure her daughter is alright. But it looks like someone else already has that covered. So she's just going to shove her way through people as not-meanly as she can and --
what the fuck.
What the fucking..

DEAN WINCHESTER'S LIPS ARE ON HER DAUGHTER
ON HER DAUGHTER
HER DAUGHTER!!!!!!!!!!
Ellen now charges like a bull through all the things and is headed right for Dean. Who is going to die. ]
[Jo Harvelle's asshole is now puckering, and her voice seems to be failing her as she spins to face her mother, and promptly moves to stand in front of Dean, blocking any access her mother would have to him.]
Mom?
[God, that was stupid. Of course it's her mother. Standing there, looking pissy. Looking horrified. Oh God, they're in trouble. She fidgets a little, and makes eye contact with her mom, trying her best to not look like a defiant brat. She takes a step back and bumps into Dean, and her hand scrambles to find his and grab hold of it, as if he's going to keep her from running away from the situation.]

[ ... What the fuck. No, really, are they trying -- do they think she's dumb? Are they trying to give her a heart attack also? WHY IS THIS HAPPENING IS THIS REAL LIFE -- ]
You shut your mouth, Dean. I'm talkin' to my daughter right now.
[ She shoots him a look that is full of tiny red arrows and lasers and snakes and lots of angry things that could make grown men pee themselves, then looks back to her daughter, steely cold with disappointment.. ]
Yeah? And just when the hell were you plannin' on lettin' me find out, huh, Jo?
[With that look from the one person that she has always wanted to impress, her heart plummets. She shrinks back, her shoulders slumping, and she turns her head to look down and away.]
I was gonna tell you after you had been here a while longer, once you were settled in better.
[Her voice is small and child-like, and she feels very much like the kid back home in Nebraska who would be scolded and punished for running off to play rough games with the boys from school.]
And don't tell him to shut his mouth, Mom. He gets a say in this too.
[She hadn't wanted to have the situation where she's forced to defend one person she loves from another, and now that she's stuck in it, it's all she can do to not just start hooting and hollering and being a stubborn little shit.]
Jo and I have been stuck here together almost a year. Last thing I'm plannin' to do is screw her over. [He's sure that sounds empty and ridiculous coming from a guy like him. What kind of argument is he even supposed to make? He's not sure he can tell Ellen how much he cares about Jo - he can barely tell Jo in private.
[Jo's head jerks up, her expression one of horror. Her cheeks flush red and she wants to shout out that there's nothing more going on than what Ellen just saw, but she's not going to lie to her mom about it.]
What we do is our own damn business. [Her arms cross over her chest, and now all of the defiance she had been trying to control comes bursting up and out of her.]
Like he said, we've been here almost a whole year together. We've been through a lot, and we've gotten close. [She glares up at Ellen now.] Real close, and I'm not gonna let anyone or anything take him away from me. This place is all I've got to give myself some kind of decent life, and he means a whole lot to me. [Her expression softens, and she turns to glance over at Dean.]
Instead of treating me like I'm still a kid, you could try treating me like an adult and being happy for me.
[Maybe he can learn after all. Ellen's latest threat has him a wee bit worried that she's going to chainsaw off his dick in his sleep and so when Jo lets out her feelings, he just places his other hand on her arm from behind her in a supportive gesture and looks to see what her mother's reaction is, keeping his trap shut.]
[ Ellen really is going to chainsaw off his dick in his sleep. But when her daughter speaks, she has a Chief Powhatan moment and realize that her daughter is wise beyond her years. That doesn't make her Triton anger any less, however, and she is indignant about this in a way that she doesn't exactly feel proud admitting. But it's a part of her. Whatever. ]
You hid this from me. I don't want the damn excuses - it's either I'm here and I'm a part of your life, or I'm home and dead as a doornail. Don't give a rat's ass about the reasons, you shoulda told me. And you. [ She turns her attention to Dean. ]
Plannin' on steppin' up and bein' a man about it anytime soon, comin' to her mother, maybe? You know better.
[ Then back to Jo. ]
You're makin' a mistake. [ And because of her anger, she's just going to be outright. ] We made a sacrifice for the world but if we didn't know these boys, we would've still been alive. It's not safe for you. I can't lose you again, Jo.
[She opens her mouth to respond to the first part, but Ellen keeps on talking and Jo is left looking scolded and pissy at life. She's actually pouting, but by the time her mom finishes she's left gaping and staring back at her mother with wide eyes.
She's furious that anyone would actually suggest it was really Dean's fault for what happened, and she finds herself shaking in anger as she shouts out:]
Mom, I love him!
[And now Ariel Jo stands up taller, refusing to back down from the issue.]
I still would've been a hunter, with or without Dean in my life. And then something else would've killed me before I hit thirty. You just don't want me to be happy, don't want me to find someone else to love. But you know what, Mom? I'm not trying to replace you with him. You're not gonna ever lose me again, promise. [Now her look goes softer, silently pleading with her mother to relent on the issue, to understand how happy Dean makes her, to actually get her feelings.]
You really don't wanna make this a pick him or you situation.
[Dean gets to have a giant Katamari ball of feelings here. First, he scoops up his indignance at Ellen for insulting his manliness when he had ACTUALLY WANTED TO TELL HER EARLIER and got talked out of it by Jo. :| Then he gets to roll up a giant city full of guilt and awfulness when she implies just how dangerous he is for Jo and how it was his fault she'd died back in the real world. He still doesn't know every detail of that day, and this is basically his worst nightmare for how it went down, so he's just going to stand behind her swallowing all the sadness
( ... )
Just give her a good long amount of stunned silence. Same to you, Dean. She doesn't really know what to say. But she has all the feelings. And she's tired. And it shows in her face. But she's not as complex as you two. So. ]
[Jo looks back over at Dean again, and seeing him there behind her, supporting her puts a smile on her face. Of course he's what she wants, so she nods.]
Yeah, I hand picked him myself and everything. He's really what I want, Mom. [She turns to look at her mother once again, still smiling like a stupid lovesick idiot.]
And you know if he does anything stupid, I'd kick his ass myself.
[ Ellen is processing this information. Slowly, but processing it. Her head hurts. Because of more than just the noise, too. This is just -- THIS IS BRAND NEW INFORMATION!!! D< ]
Doesn't mean I'm not lookin' out for her. You put one toe outta line, Dean Winchester, and you're done, you understand me?

so of course he has to open his big stupid mouth.
He squeezes Jo's hand and surveys Ellen's incredibly dangerous expression and tries not to gulp] It's probably not what you think.
