It looked like finding hiding places for maps, of all things, was key to keeping the captain entertained and informed at the same time, but Riku found little joy in hiding the papers everywhere. He caught himself more than once thinking along the lines of "What the hell have I gotten myself into?". Not the best attitude, especially when he knew he was stuck on this boat whether he liked it or not ( ... )

It would have THWACKED, had it been a piece of wood. Instead there was just a sort of dull thwap as the map hit the back of Malik's head. Annoyance flared, and he set his jaw, waiting until footsteps and the sound of the paper being peeled away were heard. With a more than irritated sigh, Malik turned his face to look at the careless person.

"...not a problem," He grated out, but it was clear Malik was hardly pleased by the turn of events. Despite that, he managed to smooth over his emotions and expression with a lukewarm smile.

This was an opportunity to get to know the crew, to bond with his crewmates... and Malik really had no urge to do any of that. However, to be completely antisocial would do nothing but hurt his goal. So the mild smile was maintained, and he even shifted a little to look like he was somehow interested in the other.

Whoa. Riku had caught a glimpse of the blonde's face as he turned. Looks like this guy had that weird talent of always looking unbalanced, so even the slightest bit of "upset" was enough to make Riku edge back... near imperceptably, but still. This wasn't the type of guy to pick a fight with; at that little moment, it was like he wanted to tear off Riku's head with his teeth. He was suddenly regretting his decision to leave his sword in his quarters ( ... )

Conversation was something both Riku and Malik weren't looking forward too, then. The Egyptian nodded, and kept his less than brilliant smile. Wow, that was lame. He had saved the maps from blowing away with his head. That was one for the books.

"Good thing," Malik repeated and nodded. Silver hair, weird. He'd never met anyone with silver hair before. And he was so very pale, like ... well the first thing that came to mind was white sandstone, and the second was bread. Neither was very flattering.

He was tempted to just walk away then. In fact, he would do just that. Malik gave another nod, this one was a little more curt. "...see you around." He offered, and couldn't help but smirk at his own private irony.

He watched as the other boy's eyes flicked over his hair. Yes, always to the hair. It wasn't as if silver was a rare color. Or. Uh. All right, maybe it was, for people his age, and he could hardly help people staring... But the urge to smack the party in question in the face never left. Other than that, he got the impression that the other boy was a bit underwhelmed by Riku's appearance. Riku couldn't say the same; besides the blonde hair that contrasted so sharply with tanned skin and framed purple eyes, besides the fact that he was dripping with gold all over his body, was the undeniable fact that Riku had to look up to meet him eye to eye. Yeah. This was one guy who made sure he got attention.

"Good bye," he replied, watching the other boy walk off. Riku narrowed his eyes at the crewman's back. There was something about him that Riku didn't like. Not that he had done anything remotely suspicious but... If there was ever trouble on the boat, Riku decided, he'd head towards Goldie, there. He wouldn't be surprised if he were in the ( ... )
