the lineup for coachella is severely disappointing. like 85% of those bands (?) i've never heard of. I think there are like 2 or 3 things I'd check out each night. I'll probably eat my words in 6 months when half of the music on the lineup blows up but whatevs for now. Last years was basically my dream lineup minus jack suckhead ( Read more... )

In my opinion the Coachella line-ups have been dissapointing ever since it went from a two day event to three days. I'll admit that some of the "no names" from last year I also wish I had seen after they blew up and I heard their stuff. However, not enough of them for the crazy ticket price. The line-ups still have enough good acts to make a bitchin' two day show but I think they went to three to A) make the scope of the whole thing seem "epic" and B) to get more money out of people by spreading quality acts in each genre over the three day period. It used to be possible to weigh your options and pick one day or another if you were so inclined. Now one day is hardly worth it ( ... )

the thing with bonnaroo is they have a comedy tent that usually boasts the best of the best in stand-up comedy. Last year it had people like lewis black, louis c.k., brian posehn, david cross, and (correct me if I'm wrong?) flight of the conchords among others I can't remember.

Also I was told about this "silent rave" concept they did where djs like sasha and digweed played records that went directly into these digital surround sound headphones you were given as you walked into the tent. That shit sounds awesome.

The big difference is Bonnaroo has this crappy jam band feeling whereas I think coachella has a more upscale feel. Either way it's a hard pill for me to swallow because I can't do tent sleeping and poor hygiene for 2+ days. Living in the midwest and being in the rave scene a handful of years ago we had a plethora of 2 & 3 day campouts and I avoided them at all costs because of the dirty factor.

This is different for you since you can just drive home.
