I caused a little bit of trouble......

Look! It's Fred's bi-annual post?

Does Bi-annual mean twice a year or once every two years? I think it can mean both, which is why it is either a very clever or very confused word.

Anyway, here's the trouble I caused. Some people can't take a joke, or they didnt read the whole post. I think it was the latter.... Leave a comment

Bi- means "two." As in bicycle, bisexual, biannual. Biannual things happen once every two years.

Semi- means "half." As in semicircle, semiprivate, semiannual. Semiannual things happen twice per year.

The American Heritage Dictionary on my desk at work states that 'biannual' is an adjective meaning 'happening twice each year'.

Have I told you lately how much I love you? I was hurting from laughter after about the third paragraph. Obviously if people didn't get it - they don't know you and your stellar sense of humor. The world is a better place with you in it.
