I submitted an article to a magazine at 11:44 a.m. EST this morning. At 11:55, I got the rejection. Given that the submission guidelines say 2 months for editorial review by committee, I was pretty stunned by this turn of events.

Oh well... Back to the drawing board.

I earmarked time this afternoon to watch the Webcast of the reunited Police rehearsal/tour announcement and was blown away. Although the band split up in 1984, the musicians have retained their chops and that sacred fire that made their music so powerful to begin with. Hooray! Lamy replaced my broken Safari with a brand new one, and it writes like a dream. I scribbled a few poems down this afternoon including this one:

New pen,
Old ink.
Starting fresh and dipping into the inkwell
for the first time.
And then comes that old familiar feeling
As my soul flows through my fingertips
and onto the page.

This afternoon, I was treated to a wondrous sight. Hunter and Ranger, the hawks that nest in an office tower a couple of blocks from here, circumnavigated our building for the good part of a half hour.
