Temporary insanity.

Many of you out there know our dog--some of you, obviously, quite quite well. For those of you who don't, the best one-word physical description of him might be...umm...fluffy? hairy? Something like that. In any case, he's the kind of dog that sheds fistfuls of hair, not just a few hairs at a time. We sweep our floors every other day, if not daily ( Read more... )

He's so PRETTY! Well done- looks like you had an easier time than I did tryin' to wash Simon.

Thank you!

I'm sure it was easier than bathing Simon--the lack of sharp claws, for one thing.

He does look great! Much cleaner and softer than I've ever seen him. Go you!
Welcome to the world of SoftPaws! I hope Puck takes to them as well as mine have. They are a life/furniture-saver.
It was great to see you. Let's do something again in a week or so, even if we can just manage us gals.

Thank you! I'm pleased with the results. He wasn't happy, but he wasn't difficult, either.
And thanks for introducing me to SoftPaws! I found them at PetCo last night for only a few dollars more than they are on the website (and since there would have been S&H from the website it's about the same). They didn't have them in colors, but that's okay. I hope the application of those goes as smoothly as the dog's bath!

And we definitely do need to get together again soon--it was great seeing you and meeting Norm the other night!

I wondered, after I posted, if people would know what nail-tips were...they're little plastic claw-covers that you glue onto your cat's claws, as a more humane alternative to de-clawing. (They DO come in different colors, actually, but the ones I got are clear.) Apparently since cats shed their nails periodically, the plastic covers just shed off with the nail shell and then you apply new ones. Katie's cats had them on the other night, and I was very intrigued. She ordered hers off a website, I found them at PetCo for close to the same price. They're a little spendy, but the box I got for just over $20 is supposed to last around 6 months, so I don't think that's too high a price to pay for not having our stairs shredded anymore. :)

And thanks for the Bayer compliment! The best part is not even how he looks, but how un-greasy his fur feels. And now when he flops on his back with his belly in the air, it's not so gross that I have to avert my eyes, which it certainly has been with all the mud the past few weeks!

I think the nail-tips should come in a French manicure version. And then picture your cat in lip gloss and wearing a shrug. So chic!

Question on the nail tips! mainstreammess October 9 2006, 19:33:30 UTC
Alright, I've considered nail tips for Squish, but I've never actually met a cat who had them. Doesn't gluing something to their claws prevent them from retracting them? Because that doesn't sound good either, which is what's prevented me from trying it.

I'd be interested to know how it goes with your kitty.
