Okay, semi-proper update.

So I feel like I've gotten settled in Canberra fairly well now. I know I was feeling a bit displaced at first, looking back it's understandable - it was easy to make friends in Sweden because everyone was new. But here, it's like trying to edge into already formed friendship groups, much harder. I've done okay, being the ( Read more... )

I've noticed how defined the friendship groups are in Canberra as well. I guess it's good once you get in one yourself but I can see how it would feel to be on the outside. From being there it seems like everyone in the group attends every social event and it's all very well connected. I wonder if you have any mutual friends with the dude I've been seeing there, seems like everyone knows everyone else. Meh losing weight is hard if you can't get eating under control. I definitely think it plays a bigger role than exercising does especially as people can have such unhealthy emotional relationships with food. Hope those two things get better for you!

Canberra is such a weird, unnatural place :P It took me a couple of months to get into this already formed friendship group of people who are studying my degree at uni. They're okay - but also quite stand-offish with other new people. I'm confused as to whether it's a Canberra thing or a computer science/nerdy thing :P

I just looked and I don't have any mutual friends with him, actually, which is surprising, but I skimmed through his friends list and I recognised a couple of people, hah.

weight is a biatch to control. I found something that super works for me though: Raw veganism. You just eat nothing but raw fruits and vegetables and nuts I guess and anything that isn't processed. I did it for a week and lost 7kg. It takes a bit of an adjustment, but it's not that hard. You can literally eat as much as you want, like, eat until the idea of eating another fucking bite makes you want to vomit and die. But you still lose weight. Or at least it worked for me and my brother. You should give it a try. I think over a long period, you'd die, coz omega 3 fatty acids and shit. But for the short term it's a way to get things moving, which is a huge psychological help.
