Yes, I never did take a liking to Robert Crumb; when I was first introduced to him he seemed far too perverse for my tastes. I don't think his stuff isn't goo by any means, as it is, and was quite revolutionary for what it was, it's hardly my cup of tea though. Kind of like Metallica: I hate those guys, but they're decent musicians they were decent musicians back in the days of the Black album.

totally like Metallica. because i think if you are going to know comic books you should know of Crumb.

yea, i just read his comics as a piece for discussion. not for enjoyment. there are certainly interesting things you can take from his work from a feminist perspective or socio-political context, blah blah blah. and as far as his art goes i have a "i can't do that so it's more than i can do" attitude.

if you have time watch the movie "Crumb" it's really interesting and you sort of come to this realization that his man is (to quote Witek) "one turn of the screw away from being insane." or at least a threat to the population, given his tedencies for extreme sexual perversion.

If any such discussion was going to go down(keep in mind I'm a comic geek) it'd be FAR more appropriate to talk about Dave Sims for a few reasons. As sexist as R. Crumb can appear to be he's never claimed to be above such criticisms, Dave Sim(creator of the epic 300 issue Cerebeus comic) doesn't even admit he COULD be wrong. I'll link you to the engine threads next time I see you on aim.

i have come to the conclusion that any benefit of acid (of which it seems there very much are), isn't enough to counter the fact that it freaks me out.

:/
