The one good thing I learned from Sunday school was the tale they repeated ad nauseam, of the Good Samaritan. I'm not sure I ever really believed any of it.

Huh, interesting.
As a kid, I tried very hard to 'believe', but found it pretty hard. Most of what was being preached/told/taught seemed ludicrous and just...unbelievable. No matter what, I could not make that leap of blind faith and just go 'yeah, i believe'. So...by the time I was 12, I think, religion was something I did to make my mom happy (brought up Lutheran), but it meant nothing to me.

I've been an atheist in thought/beliefs since then; over forty years!

Do you think you would have no ethics if you had been brought up without religion?

No, of course not, because I was 'Well brought up' *g* But a catholic childhood certainly teaches a clear difference between 'right' and 'wrong'. And that is the ethical grounding I have, so that is the one I am grateful for.
If I had a different one, I would be grateful for that.

I was raised Presbyterian but I really don't believe in predestination. Now I'm a Methodist. Guess that wasn't much of a move. Then again, religion wasn't really something that my family practiced at home so it kind of was always my thing.
