And today in the monthly meme we go from the sinister (and hopefully impossible) to the fun (and equally impossible) *g*

13. If you could bring back any cancelled TV series, which TV show would you choose to bring back?It seems to me that these days most successful television series don't die until they have out-lived the interest of their fans ( Read more... )

I used to get invested in shows but with networks and streaming services canceling things after one two or three seasons because of cost I've stopped. I break up with shows a lot more easily, too.

Ratings are so important now, I think; if a series isn't topping the ratings it's judged not to be worth renewing.

I would definitely have been happy to see more Firefly. There was a lot that could be done with that series that never had the chance. Sherlock had quite a few more stories that could have been modernised but I think it went when it was due.

I think you are right about Sherlock - they closed a few emotional loose ends in a way that suggested 'no more', but there are so many original stories, it would have been nice to have seen some of them adapted.

The temptation is to say Firefly because we got so little of it but the hints I've gotten of the direction the show was going to take leave me thinking I should love what I have and let it be.

For me, it's Stargate: Atlantis. I adore Robert Picardo and he'd only gotten one year as the head of the expedition and I would have loved to watch his character settle further into his role. There were also several other character arcs that I think could have taken on interesting directions. Not to mention we could have gotten further into the intergalactic politics of the Pegasus Galaxy and Earth. There was room for some very interesting stories.

Ah well, that's why we have fanfic.

I thought the story of the film could have filled a half season, but I have no idea what else might have been planned.

I saw the film, but I don't think I ever watched any of the Stargate series.

Yes, putting it right is the real reason for fanfic, isn't it *g*

The direction the Firefly movie took was enough to tell me that Joss was heading in a darker, grittier direction. Killing two of my favorite characters didn't help either.

Firefly is the one that immediately springs to mind for me.
