I dimly remember being in an office full of people. I dimly remember socialising in groups in the evening. No doubt it will come back one day. The meme question for a ( Read more... )

I despair at the age young people will have to work until - it will be a lot later than us I think! The likelihood of them having a state pension and an NHS is dubious too!

I can’t stand McDonalds food. It is tasteless... but then I find most manufactured food tasteless. I never understood how supermarket chicken sandwiches could taste so unlike chicken when I needed a quick lunch ....

My young colleagues were talking about 70 at their youngest.

Yeah, I always avoided chicken, if I ever needed to buy a sandwich.

I feel so sorry for kids these days - they will probably live to over 100, and have to work for most of those years.

I know. I am glad not to be young now. Living with fear of nuclear armageddon was one thing, but as long as the world didn't get blown up, we were fairly secure in our futures.

There is a lot to be said for retiring whilst we can enjoy life - and I agree that we might be the last generation (at least for the foreseeable future) that will be able to do it.

I too am enjoying an early retirement and, until this year, was using it to travel extensively. Itchy as I am to get back on the road I'm insanely grateful to not have to go to work in these conditions.

I've done the balloon ride at a couple of places, Disney World and more memorably San Diego Zoo. Those were tethered so I don't know if it's the experience you're looking for but the view is spectacular.

Oh, so am I. I feel so sorry for my ex-colleagues.

I think I just like being up high and having the view. A tethered balloon would have the real advantage of not leaving you in the middle of a field miles from anywhere at the end of it, too *g*
