February meme, Days 24 to 26

Feb 26, 2021 10:02

I've been feeling sort of flat and indolent for the past few days. Today I'm going to do something! Straight after I've caught up with some questions in the meme.

24. What would be the ultimate travel experience for you?A trip to the moon and back? No. I think it would be sailing a yacht across the Atlantic, through the Panama Canal and up the ( Read more... )

I had to save up birthday and job money to buy myself things I wanted. That created a healthy attitude toward saving and managing money that's stayed with me.

Enjoy being active!

When I look at some people I know, I really think you and I were very lucky to be brought up with such a sensible attitude to money. I know a couple of people who are totally crippled under a mountain of debt.

There's a marina in town at the bottom of the hill, so you could park your yacht! The downside is you'd then have to walk up the hill! :)

I can dream *g* It would be nice. I really wouldn't mind a hill at the end.

I hope you enjoyed your activity! It's been a flat week here too, but sunshine today has been a great improvement.

Miss Fisher is a very cheering thing to binge. Nicely far from current concerns!

Thank you, I did. I got my bike out and went for a ride along the coast in the sunshine. I even had the wind behind me on the way home and that doesn't happen very often *g*

Miss Fisher is very effective escapism. I'm going to try the books now.

I liked Miss Fishers episodes but I agree the feature film was a little unsatisfying. I think they were trying to tie up some loose ends.

Hope you had a good day!

They were, but it was the Indian Jones element that I found jarred, when the series had at least been based on normal life.

I did, thank you. It was beautifully sunny.

I was like you with my pocket money. I also realised that money was very important when it came to losing it - I remember being sent shopping with a list and a £1.00 note as an eight year old or so, and managing to lose the 10/= note from the change, and how upset my mother was. Money, I realised as I go older, was tight in our household, and when I realised the household income at the time was probably about £5 a week for 4 adults and 3 children I can see why she was so upset.

I remember having to trace my steps back to the grocers', to check it wasn't on the ground, ask in the shop and then go to the police station (almost next to the grocers') to see if anyone had handed it in. They hadn't.
