A few days ago I was walking along the top at Tynemouth when I spotted a red sail out to sea. I have a soft spot for a red sail, so I wandered along and watched it head south, and when it turned in through the piers I realised it was a gaff rigged sailing cobble. The crew took the sail down once it got into the river and it continued under engine,

Bumper stickers are just not a thing over here are they. I do see quite a few of those stickers on windscreens with ‘baby on board’ or whatever but not in the bumper ....

I just posted another picture of another one in comments and I think you can see how they are a direct descendent of the Viking longship, for all that they have a flat stern.
I walked past a house yesterday that had the window next to the front door half filled with those windscreen stickers - Help For Heroes, National Trust, NHS Rainbow, some wildlife park somewhere, a whole load more I can't remember. No baby on board, though; maybe that was just a bit too big.

I like a nice bit of Wensleydale with strawberry jam occasionally :)

For sandwiches, yes to mature cheddar, or some decent ham, or a bit of home roasted chicken is always good between decent bread. The golden rule for me is there must never be any mayo - I hate mayo with a fiery passion :)

I grew up in Texas. Every teenager was poised to get their license on their 17th birthday. Place has such an influence on culture. To get much of anywhere here you have to have a car, somewhere with good public transportation I imagine it wouldn't be a matter of urgency.
I got a cavity in one of my wisdom teeth. My dentist asked me if I wanted it taken out or a filling. I asked if there was any reason to extract it. He said no, so I asked for a filling. I always thought it was strange that he would just assume I'd like my wisdom teeth yanked.

Public transport and much, much shorter distances, I imagine *g*
My Dad was in his 40s and my Mom in her 50s before they learnt to drive and there are a number of people in my street who don't own cars, but most of the people I went to school with learnt as soon as they turned 18. I think I was the last among my friends.
That does seem odd.
