We had smartcards to get into the building, but didn't need to wear them once we were there... although leaving it on your desk could result in being locked in the stairwell and having to go down to reception to borrow a visitor card to get back to it *g*
The flooding is horrific - we really are now living with the consequences of climate change.
I didn't need to wear an ID badge either. I did have an official id card - and the photo on it when I retired was still the same one that was taken in 1988 when I first joined the department!
I'm with you on the museums - they are my happy place!
I know what you mean - it is so much easier to just get a renewal of your ID card with the same photo *g* Nothing wrong with looking younger, those pictures are rarely flattering, like passport photos, so younger helps.
It's so interesting how we all feel temps differently. My house is about 70/21 right now, and it's half past nine. If i didn't close up windows and possibly turn on the AC, it would be 80/26 or so by noon. To me, though, that's marvelous because *outside* it's already 76/24, and will be 88/31 at peak heat (with the humidity level hovering around 70% most of the day). That means my insulation is working and my house is staying cooler than it normally would have, yay!
I probably won't turn on my AC unless the humidity really starts to get to me. I get so cold when it's on, even when the thermostat is only set at like 76 (24).
It's humidity that's the killer, isn't it. Thankfully our humidity is pretty low at the moment, so the heat is bearable, but I was driven inside to read later in the day, because sitting in the direct sun was just too hot.
Oh, aye, the direct sun is almost never bearable except in autumn and winter, for me at least. Spring if it's a nice, cool spring. But summer? Can't do that anymore.
To think me and my sister used to lay out in our tanning oil in the sun in the middle of the day. Sheesh!
