January meme, Days 1 to 6

Looks like I am going to do this again. I need an excuse to post occasionally. I'm also considering taking part in this year's LJ Book Bingo (at https://ljbookbingo.livejournal.com/), but I'll see whether I can get a couple of book reviews in stock before I decide about that. This year, rather ( Read more... )

Midsommer Murders is another show I’m happy to watch again. We missed the Drama showing but it’s currently broadcast on Saturdays on ITV3 so we’re recording them as they show them in a weird order.

Christmas isn’t Christmas without Pannetone in our house ;)

Midsommer Murders is quite batty, but it is fun. And there are so many of them.

Pannetone is wonderful stuff. I wish it was easier to find throughout the year.

I remember boggling as a kid that I would be THIRTY-THREE in the year 2000; that seemed unimaginable.
I didn't remember that Soylent Green was set in 2022....this demands a rewatch! Heh.

This history and origin of 'bad rap' is interesting, but much too lengthy to post here. :D

I will continue to mask probably for another year or longer - I like doing a mask everywhere, means I don't have to interact much with people, and that's fine by me.

I'm planning to binge season two of 'Beforeigners' today; omg, I love that show. :D
May your 2022 be peaceful, stressful, healthy, and full of long, lovely sea-side walks! (So jealous!) <3

I remember Soylent Green so well, but I'm not sure I'd want to watch it again, for fear of finding it dated in its form - camera action, acting, etc. I like the memory of it. If you do watch it, I'd be interested to know if it survives the passage of years.

That is really interesting. Thank you. So 'rap' is American usage, and has the same origins as 'rep'.

Wishing you also a peaceful and serene 2022.

I have been busy 'undecking' today :)

I remember seeing Soylent Green back then, too. I think they got it a bit wrong....

Films predicting the near future nearly always do, don't they *g* Like many, I feel cheated by the lack of personal jet packs *g*

I saw Soylent Green at the cinema - it blew my mind! (As we used to say back then!) The scene where the grandfather is euthanased was really impressive on the big screen, and still brings tears to my eyes.

Here in the United States there are any number of commercially made, bad fruitcakes, which I think gives them the reputation they have. Just up the road from us the Colin Street Bakery in Waco makes exceptional fruitcakes all year long so I really don't understand why anyone would bother with inferior product.

I tend to binge watch streaming shows, especially on Netflix which drops whole seasons all at once. That's what we did with Money Heist and Squid Game. I'm not really sure I'll watch the second season of Squid Game. So much death.

*Shakes head* such a shame when, as you know, a good fruit cake is indeed a wonderful thing.

I've heard of squid games, but it didn't seem like the sort of show I wanted to watch *g* for all that it became a bit of a cult thing.
