1. Where did you go the last time you took an airplane ride?
Iceland! And it was wonderful. I fell in love with the country even though we had like EVERY kind of winter weather in the span of three days, and my glacier hike was cancelled. But I got to meet

Oh, I'm so glad you enjoyed your trip to Iceland! Everyone I've ever known who went there said it was awesome (aside from costs).

Yeah, getting there was relatively inexpensive. But once you're there it costs an arm and a leg! We tried to play it cheaply (getting a number of our meals from the grocery store, walking wherever we could). It was worth it, regardless.

I look forward to hearing all about Iceland.

Your "bad trip" sounds very bad indeed. I'm wincing just hearing about it.

I've never had the pleasure of business class on a long flight, but it sounds glorious. One time when I was flying from San Francisco to New York, they asked for volunteers to give up their seats (and get a free round-trip domestic ticket). I volunteered. But then they didn't end up needing volunteers after all. So as a thank-you, they bumped me up to first class. (I did not get the free ticket, of course, which was understandable. But first class was fun.)

It was a fine end to a lovely trip. *sigh* I don't think they told the flight attendants that everyone got bumped, because one of them asked what I did and when I said I was an English teacher, he was like, Wow, they must pay you well! I wish!!

I envy your trip to Iceland in particular. I loathe flying, largely because I get terribly motion sick; but I'd suck it up for that! The scenery alone would be worth it, but I'd love to check out the differences in architecture, food, music...possibly bookstores. They'd be nice to visit even if I couldn't buy anything-Iceland publishes and READS extensively.

Oh, there wasn't much difference - at least not in Reykjavik. It's a very international city, and it shows. I was in one bookstore; the first floor was all English-language books (everyone in Iceland speaks English), while the second and third floors were Icelandic. But the scenery was very beautiful, even in the torrential rain!
