first, the ever-present paragraph where i try to describe how much i liked this by saying something like "so it was this awful, busy day at work and i did such a hasty first read of this that i was totally jaw-dropping WAIT A SECOND, I GET IT! HOW NEAT! blindsided by the backwards-timeline, and all day as i was stuffing envelopes and my boss was all 'maybe you could try sealing them this way instead' and i was wishing really hard for a job that involved demon-hunting instead (destroy evil! be your own boss!), every so often i'd remember this fic and fidget and bite the insides of my lips trying not to grin and oh my god, when is there going to be a carnival in town?!"

a carnival at night, all the lights and cheerful, enchanting cheesiness, is such a fantabulous setting. and ♥, oh man, right from the beginning. having someone you like touching all squished up against you on a carnival ride is, well, one of my favourite sense-memories, and i'm glad i can share it with Dean here. there's something so just flat-out glorious about the ( ... )

I was so afraid that the narrative strucure/wonky timeline business would throw people off, but I remembered this one time in the english class where I was supposed to write a short story, cut it up into sections and rearrange them and when I did, it was like whoa! contexts! and it was great. So I did it again. :D Plus, I have this thing for experimental writing, I don't know, I can't help it. :D ( ... )
