Surgery
In a few hours, it'll have been exactly one week since my father and I had surgery, him to donate and I to receive the Kidney. So, let's recap. My new kidney is installed, working, and kicked into high gear. A mere day after surgery, my serum Creatinine went down from 6.1 to 2.9, an amazing improvement. Genaric Updates
Well, lets see. Still have dying kidneys, still haven't had to start Dialysis. Fatigue and cognitive difficulties are still rough. On the up side, my dad got through all the tests to be a live donor. He was initially discounted because of somewhat high blood pressure, but nearly a year of exercise and watching what he eats and he's impressed ( Read more... ) -
Bad news
Well, after my mother went through surgery to fix a problem she didn't know she had, and started dealing with complications (annoying ones, not life-threatening ones), a test revealed that one of her kidneys is only functioning at 30%, making her unsuitable for being a Kidney Donor. Bureaucratic hell
Wow, so I just went through bureaucratic hell with my COBRA insurance provider that I have to deal with while I'm on Long Term Disability. I managed to find an envelope with September's payment in the middle of October. Mailed it immediately, and called up, only to be told that sorry, I no longer have health insurance, nothing they could do. Had ( Read more... ) -
That complicated life of mine.
So I got a call the other day from my supervisor at work (whom I haven't seen in months since I had to stop working and go on long term disability). Seems I'm being downsized, laid off, handed a pink-slip.
