Post-Duel (for Valen, or Jess, and really anyone else)

Locke isn't bleeding nearly so much as he was anymore, but he's certainly not looking great. In fact, he looks almost as bad as he did when he first arrived, pale and fever-sweaty and generally unwell. He's alive, though, which is a hell of a lot more than he expected. When he comes around (eventually), he might even be glad of that ( Read more... )

He's definitely got a Valen, who's maneuvered things so that he can sit by an open window as he watches over the unconcious Locke so the acute claustrophobia doesn't set in. He puts a cool, damp towel on Locke's head to help calm the fever and he's got some water nearby should Locke want it when he wakes up, whenever that may be. Until then he just waits, making sure nothing takes a turn for the worse while Locke is still unconcious.

Locke shifts slightly, coming out of the stupor a bit, though waking slowly. He murmurs something and then his eyes snap open and he tries to sit up with almost a yell, wild eyed -

"Godsfucking hell no get away-"

Locke doesn't have good dreams. Especially not when BONDSMAGI ARE EVERYWHERE.

Valen starts in surprise, then immediately leans forward, gards flaring slightly, hands on Locke's shoulders to coax him back down. "Locke, relax, you're all right. Lie down, you're safe."

He - oh. Valen. He relaxes and lets himself be pushed back down, trying to catch his breath. "Safe...easier to believe that one than all right." He winces. "Sure I'm not dead? That's a surprise. Felt like it." He tries valiantly to keep his face in it's usual ironically amused expression. It's not going so well.

Pretending that her typist didn't make a boo-boo earlier, non-Princess Jess is here, looking confused and horrified all at once. Her eyes as wide as she gapes openly, but she has no clue where to start. Biting her lip, she kneels next to him, gently pushing hair away from his face.

Her jerks, startled and his eyes snap open, but then he recognizes Jess and drops back, relieved. "Oh. Hey." Tiredly.

He's really feeling bad about this now, even aside from the whole in pain thing.

She pulls her hand back quickly when he stirs, startled herself. "Hi," she says, "I don't... I-- what happened? Do you need me to... get anything? Anyone? Do you need me to, like... go?"

He shakes his head and then winces. "Don't go. I'm - I think as good as can be expected, all things considered." He makes an attempt at a wry smile, for her. "I'm alive. Better than I expected."

The moment her foot crosses the threshold he jerks upright with a startled noise and promptly swears loudly, blanching and one hand going to his side. "Dammit," he says in a almost faint voice. "Why can't you people knock or something?"

Being half-dead doesn't mean he's not still skittish as anything. Perhaps even more so.

"It's just me, pup," she says with her usual tone, but lower. "Didn't want to wake you. Clap for my stunning success."

She closes the distance, though. God. He looks like shit. Don't say that, Anita, don't say that.

"I'm sorry," she says instead, softly.

He flops back on the pillow, already tired again. "S'okay. Don't look at me like that. I'm not dead yet."
