I have determined it is far easier to accept laughable absurdity in art when that art is in a language one doesn't speak or understand. For example, Christina Aguilera's work sounds positively dynamite in Spanish, whilst in English it's just run-of-the-mill pop with some downright silly lyrics. Don't knock the trolley. ;)

I'm reading Day Watch now. I'll have to watch the movie when I'm done. In case you haven't read the books, elements from each of the first two books are in each of the first two movies. It's an interesting choice in movie making.

Now that I think about it, I realize that I'm willing to forgive a lot more in entertainment that I know is done on a small budget, whether foreign or domestic. I know that I forgive things in indie video games that would piss me off if they were shipped (and especially not fixed) by EA, Sony, or Blizzard.

The same is true with movies and TV shows. I guess that I'm just not willing to give a movie with a $100 million budget any slack when the special effects, dialog, or acting go bad.
