I really don't think it would be unreasonable to propose legislation limiting how many members of a single family can hold that office, perhaps within a certain period of time.

I mean, the Founders were pretty much against the whole idea of leadership as genetic legacy. Our government was sort of designed as a reaction to dynastic politics, wasn't it?

Boy, you are so right on both points. There's just no way that an election with another Bush would be a fair one, even more because of the electorate than the candidate, in my opinion.

I wonder if this means Dick Cheney is definitely not going to run.

I've heard that Jeb has said he will NOT run in 2008 - waiting for at least 2012, but he has pretty much acknowledged a run is in the cards.

I don't think Cheney wants the job. He's seen first hand where the power is, and it's not in the puppet with the media spotlight on him. It's in the shadows behind the throne.
