Birthdays - oh my
Compared to last year - this birthday has been simply well - if not great, certainly up there in the "good" and "makes me happy" range.
Of course, I am pretty sure I failed my stats final. 30 pages of questions, two hours, I left 30% blank and ran out of time (as did everyone). Oxford doesn't curve, doesn't double mark, and basically has made this ( Read more... ) -
Oxford blues
I don't know if today could have go any more classically Oxford. Worked continually all day on statistics, was told by a professor I shouldn't go into Academia b/c I wouldn't make money but at least I had the good fortune of having the Oxford name behind me, then worked on more statistics over at Univ with Kit and Pam, ended up running out for Thai ( Read more... ) -
Oh, RL update
Holy crap I'm stressed. In that mode where you actually cannot get any work done because you are so stressed. Going for coffee with Sanne and hope to be better when I return. Damn - 2 qualifiers this week and I am stretched thin. It doesn't help that my big qualifying exam will be NOT double marked and will be graded by my illustrious TAs who are ( Read more... ) -
It's been a long time

Oxford sometimes makes me feel like a middle-class nobody who doesn't know anything because I haven't had a classical education.

Matriculation!
Hi friends!
So yesterday I matriculated from Oxford. This is one of the oldest
ceremonies of the University, where we have to wear formal dress
(subfusc) and gowns. We then are led into this very ornate theatre and
the University's Vice chancellor inducts us in Latin. He states,
