The French Revolution, sure! Instead of trying to make this even remotely historically accurate, I'm just going with race-blind casting of the likes of which hasn't been since Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella (WHICH IS THE BEST MOVIE EVER, please and thank you). Kalinda is definitely one of the proletariat--fuck, maybe a maid? god, history sucks, I'm making her a blacksmith in Peter's stables--and Alicia is an aristocrat. The fic starts when the Reign of Terror kicks off, and Peter pays Kalinda to get Alicia and the kids out of the country. Actually, come to think of, this would probably be a pretty sad story--Peter at the very least would be arrested and guillotined as an enemy of the revolution. Oooh, but maybe Diane and Will could be members of parliament in La Montagne or the Committee of Public Safety? And Will's all, kill them all, off with their heads but Diane is like, maybe we should, you know, spare the childrenBUT THAT'S GETTING OFF TRACK.
