My ears turned a bit pink the other day. I was watching a film with the family when all of a sudden the characters started having sex. We talked about it but it occurred to me that virtually every Hollywood movie seems compelled to include a sex scene -- even if it doesn't actually advance the plot. I find it quite ironic that while the US is considered, among developed countries, to have the most hang-ups about sex, it also has a rabid fascination with sex and sex scenes. It could be that the US has all these sex scenes on TV and in films percisely because of the fact that people in this country are still not mature about the issue of sex.

And, as often occurres with any oversexed individual, conventional sex just doesn't cut it any more, so the watching public needs types of sex that will startle a watching public which has become jaded of viewing too much conventional sex. Perhaps that is why you get the fascination with rape, adolescents dressed up like prostitutes and the like. IMO, if the US public were comfortable about sexuality and the human form, then there would not be this myopic focus on sex that exists today.

I worked for a school district once that used to have a public health nurse come into our classes to answer kids questions about their sexual health. Very very cool!

The same nurse also had a meeting with the staff beforehand where she did the same thing ... basically answered any questions people had.

The kids asked almost exactly the same questions as the staff!

With one exception. One boy (12 years old) was worried that there might be something wrong with him because he wasn't obsessed with sex. The nurse reassured told him some people are by nature asexual and that it was perfectly normal to be a twelve year old virgin.

The other day I was playing World of Warcraft and someone said the server was filled with 14 year old virgins. I was delighted by many of the responses. One asked Is being a 14 year old virgin somehow wrong or even unusual?
