I know waaaay too much about the inner workings of Cap Metro. Suffice it to say that they wouldn't even run a bus system at all if they didn't have to as part of their charter. Capital Metro's main missions, in order of priority, are: to funnel public money to consultants and contractors, to buy up and sell real estate (the unneeded and useless S. Austin "transfer center" was created after the land was bought for way above market value by CapMetro because some well-connected developer friend of a board member couldn't flip it any other way in this economy), and lastly, and only if there is any money left over, to provide some sort of public transit, preferably expensive trains for suburban white people rather than buses for the poor and carless. Sounds harsh, I know, but all the evidence and actions of the authority bear this out.
